Dr. Rashid was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and spent her early childhood years there, but would later become a refugee when war broke out in the 1980s with the Soviet Union. It was in those early days of war and escape that she remembers, in particular, the service of the doctors, which helped pave her future. She went on to finish high school at Alameda High, then studied Biology at U.C. Berkeley, and completed medical school at Western University of Health Sciences. She completed a Family Medicine Residency at NHMC in southern california, and has been practicing hospital medicine here in her hometown for the past 4 years. A fun fact- her sister also works here as a physician.
