Nerissa Barreto N.P. obtained her B.S. in Zoology at Far Eastern University. She then pursued an M.D. from Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. She completed her residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology at East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines.
After practicing medicine for 20 years in the Philippines, she transitioned to nursing and immigrated to Alameda, CA. At various skilled nursing facilities throughout the Bay Area, Nerissa has taken on leadership positions such as: Charge Nurse, Director of Staff Development, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Director of Nursing.
Nerissa then furthered her education, and became a Nurse Practitioner in 2012. Since 2014, she has been employed at Alameda Inpatient Medical as a Nurse Practitioner and has also precepted Nurse Practitioner students. As a strong advocate for patient safety, Nerissa practices with the goal of ensuring quality patient care.
Outside of work, Nerissa volunteers for medical missions and meal distributions to give back to the community.
In her free time, Nerissa enjoys traveling with her family and has visited various countries around the globe. Additionally, she likes to experiment with new food and has cooked up novel recipes utilizing home-grown ingredients straight from her backyard.
